Her face beautifies glossy magazines. Her aura brightens the
concert stage and her performance leaves the audience breathless. Janice Hung
has been performing in the recent string of festivities and concert for
Filipinos here and abroad. Dubbed by friends as the “Wushu Queen” owing to her
winning streak in international Wushu competitions, taipans and business
tycoons often invite her to grace their corporate activities, marketing
campaigns, and corporate social responsibilities.
After years of Spartan training in the martial arts, Janice
discovered her own brand of sports entertainment that of literally blending
singing and dancing with death-defying stunts. Her creatively executed routine
precedes applauses, cheers, and standing ovations. To make the performance more
intense, she sometimes incorporates long swords and wooden staff in the
presentation. Combined with aerial maneuvers of other dancers, Janice’s
choreography is undeniably a sight to behold.
An award-winning athlete, Janice was a former member of the
National Wushu Team that represented the Philippines in international
competitions such as the Southeast Asian Games, World Championship and the
Asian Games. Before bowing out of competitive sports, she clinched a gold medal
in the 2007 Invitational Wushu Competition held in China. As she discovered her
other talents in modeling and singing, she established the Janice Hung Arts and
Sports (JHAS) Foundation to extend opportunities to the Filipino youth. Aside
from the more than 500 JHAS beneficiaries, her achievements in Wushu and civic
endeavors were recently recognized by her alma mater, the University of Santo
Tomas, as she received the 2012 The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni (TOTAL) award
for sports.
Last May 2014 Janice launched her single entitled “ CRUEL”.
Performed by Janice herself, “Cruel” explores the emotions behind a broken
relationship. Despite of the time that passed by, the woman still yearns to
rekindle the romance. Picking up her shattered life, she still professes her
undying love for her man.
To visually interpret the song, Janice teamed up with actor
Lance Raymundo to produce the official MTV Directed by Louise Viola and Shandii
Bacolod, the official MTV features never-before-seen martial arts performance
of Janice and actor Lance Raymundo.
The launch activity last May, serves as a springboard for
Janice’s European tour this June 2014 to promote her single. She is set to
perform for the celebration of the 60 years German-Filipino Bilateral
Relationship and 116th Philippine Independence Day spearheaded by ALAEH and Mr.
Virgilio Cuizon. She will also be performing in Belgium, Switzerland and
Austria. The Filipino community definitely has a new sparkling jewel and her
name is Janice Hung.
